THE NIKE AIR SHAKE NDESTRUKT RELEASES IN ROYAL BLUE

As soon as we saw that Dennis Rodman’s Nike Air Shake NDestrukt retro basketball model from the 1990s was getting a proper retro, we knew that the floodgates would open for brand new colorways that were more lifestyle-centric and less than OG. Some have been super good, and others have been well, let’s face it, not at all. Today we get a look at the latest monochromatic installment with the Nike Air Shake NDestrukt Royal Blue, available right now from select retailers. The pair features tumbled leather on the worm-like ribbed shroud overlay, a matching oversized Swoosh and a white midsole and outsole unit for a unique take that we’re sure Dennis would approve of. SETH ROGEN AND MICHAEL J. FOX TAKE OSCARS STAGE IN DELOREAN AND NIKE MAGS

Every shoe that a footwear designer creates will eventually be released in the future, of course.

Typically, that’ll be around 12-18 months later on, but back in 1988, Tinker Hatfield was working on a project set some 27 years in the future.

The shoe, the Nike MAG, was to be featured in the “Back To The Future 2” movie a year later in the late 80s, and it would go on to become one of the most iconic sneakers in pop culture.

“In 2015, a sneaker is still a sneaker!” Tinker playfully noted on one sketch.

“I thought about the year 2015,” Hatfield recalls. “And I had a strong opinion that shoes might be somewhat intelligent and able to turn on and become alive in the future.”

With that initial insight in mind, that shoes would incorporate power in some way, Hatfield sketched a veering, sleekened high-top sneaker with “power laces.” One sketch even featured “growing Air bags.”

Check out several of Tinker Hatfield’s original Nike MAG sketches below in our latest Sneaker Sketch of the Week, and stay tuned for more launch news tomorrow of the 2016 version of the MAG.

Oscars presentation was nothing if not entertaining. There was a mix up on the biggest award of the evening, celebrities were caught napping in the audience, and a random tour bus full of vacationers entered the ceremony in an odd yet hilarious exchange. But what caught the attention of any sneakerhead tuning in was the appearance of Seth Rogan alongside Michael J. Fox.

Rogan took the stage in a crispy pair of the Nike MAG accompanied by Fox in the DeLorean. They took the stage to present the Oscar for Achievement in Film Editing to John Gilbert for his work on Hacksaw Ridge. See for yourself below.

This is by far the largest haul of the three-part auction process that took place in both Shanghai and London. The Shanghai auction pulled in a stellar $104,000, with the London auction bringing in roughly half of that at $56,000.

This pair packs Pelicans pantones, placing gold accents on a red upper. However, while similarities exist, it appears to be more so an homage to Marty McFly’s 2015 outfit, showing nods to his red vest and color shifting cap.
